Question

I feel the same way. i have a two year old and everytime I get the feeling i want to drive then I get behind the wheel and I freeze. I just want to overcome this anxity and learn how to drive better and not be so scared all of the time. It's runing my life.

Your story is one many people will relate to. Yes, you CAN get better. I sounds to me that you silmply have not yet found the right help. Go to my ADAA link on my links page of this site. click on "Find a Therapist". Type in your city and state and you will come up with a list of therapists near you that typically specialize in treating anxiety disorders. Just because someone is listed with ADAA doesn't garantee success or that the therapist is excellent. Typically you will however, find therapists knowledgeable of how to work with anxiety disorders. Interview your choices for success rate, qualifications, etc. then pick one that you feel is sincere and cares about you. Seek out a cognitive/behavioral therapist and also look for exposure therapy (in addition) if you can find it. You can do your own exposure though, once you learn some behavioral tools to work with. Never give up hope! You can overcome this and have a more comfortable life. I would be happy to talk with you for a free consultation. You may call me between 8:00 to 8:30 a.m. MOUNTAIN.(AZ.) time on either April 1 or 2. if that works for you. Typically this time frame is usually good for me prior to beginning my days schedule. If you live in the eastern time zone then you are two hours ahead of me if that helps.

One night I was eating spinach, and a peice got caught in  my throat. I panicked but I could still breath, it wasnt like the hemlick manuever would have helped....But for that whole night it felt like the spinach was still stuck in my throat, Ever since ive been anxious while eating anything, How do I cope with my fear? sue 21 May 2003
